Election Fraud and Protests in Belarus
The former Soviet country of Belarus is experiencing mass protests after presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was forced into exile in Lithuania. Tikhanovskaya fled Belarus after the recent presidential election maintained the country’s leader of nearly 26 years Alexander Lukashenko, with many skeptical of the results and calling the ‘victory’ rigged. As a result, protests have erupted and the US and EU countries have called for sanctions on the corrupt government of Lukashenko.
Iranian Oil En Route to Venezuela Seized
In the infamous Strait of Hormuz, four tankers were seized by US forces in order to stop the gasoline they contained from arriving at an awaiting Venezuelan port. The total amounts to over 1 million barrels. Iranian officials denied that the ships were from the Middle Eastern country, claiming that the actions were taken as a show of power by the Trump government.

Vaccine Announcements Face Scrutiny
After Russia announced its newly developed coronavirus vaccine, many jumped to question its validity. Scientists in the field have been working to streamline and speed up the process, but the shortest time in which a vaccine has been developed and adequately tested is four years. Sputnik V, named after the historic satellite, still has not finished the testing and approval process generally recognized for a vaccine to be considered valid. Fears that Russia has a political interest in manufacturing this new vaccine are rising around the world.
The UK’s Economy Crashing
Unlike other European countries, the UK’s economy in its current state of recession is incomparable. In fact, some experts believe that it is experiencing the worst coronavirus-related recession among its global counterparts. This is the first time since the 2008 crash that the country has experienced something of this sort. And economists aren’t expecting difficult times to pass anytime soon, with worrying number likely on the horizon.
