Last Week’s Highlights
Joe Biden’s Presidential Plans
As the January 20 presidential inauguration creeps nearer, Joe Biden continues to announce future White House officials. Considering the tense relationship between the US and China during the Trump Administrator, Biden is expected to put increased focus on relations with Asia. As well, it’s likely that Biden will make a major effort to control the spread of COVID-19. Among other changes, the nature of presidential communication is also expected to shift, focusing less on social media platforms like Twitter.

Pfizer’s Vaccine Now Available
In the UK, pharmaceutical Pfizer has officially launched its first doses of its recently approved SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. While many other of the company’s peers have announced their equivalents, Pfizer’s vaccine comes with a 95% effectiveness rating. The next steps will pertain to production and distribution, something which will be a huge challenge around the world.
The US Economy Seems Fine, But Are the Country’s People?
Just because the United States’ economy appears to be growing by trillions of dollars despite the pandemic, the reality of the situation may be a little more grim than it seems. While fewer people are claiming unemployment, the fact of the matter remains that tens of millions have been laid off in this year alone. On top of this, many indices and stocks continue to see new records. However, there isn’t necessarily a correlation between increasing wealth overall and that of the people.
