There’s a lot of people who disagree with the Covid vaccine. Data shows there are approximately 60 million Americans who haven’t taken the vaccine. The White House Chief Medical Assistant, Dr. Anthony Fauci, asks the people to get vaccinated. “It is not too late. Get vaccinated now. And importantly, if you are already vaccinated six months or more ago and eligible for a boost, get a boost”, he declared.
The topic of the booster shot of the Covid vaccine is controversial. A debate has formed around the different circumstances of developed countries that are already thinking about a third dose. In contrast, in others with fewer resources, access to the first dose of the vaccine is still difficult.
However, the FDA has authorized the use of booster shots of Moderna and Pfizer vaccine on American adults. After two months, the authorization has arrived today after reviewing the data issued by both companies last week.
For a lot of people, this authorización has arrived just on time because the winter season is getting closer in the US. Experts on public health assume that during this season, Covid infections will increase due to the gatherings in closed spaces. Moderna’s CEO, Stéphane Bancel, stated: “This emergency use authorization comes at a critical time as we enter the winter months and face increasing COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations across the country.”
According to Dr. Peter Marks, the FDA determined the booster shot of both Pfizer and Moderna be applied in people older than 18 years old. This will help for the efficiency in the application of the booster shots in people who need it the most.
In this way, Moderna and Pfizer will be joining Johnson & Johnson in the application of booster shots. According to some health officials, J&J has distributed more than 16 million Covid vaccines, and some people have already received the booster shot, including the president of the United States, Joe Biden.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to gather to authorize the distribution of the booster shots for the people to get vaccinated.
Anthony Fauci stated that “the Israelis have shown that when you boost, you multifold diminish the likelihood of getting infected, getting sick, or dying.” This affirmation will surely stick to the head of more than one American, probably encouraging them to take the booster shot.
Pfizer shares have jumped last month after some positive announcements like the Covid pill. Their market value has increased 21% in comparison to last month, and it will probably keep rising with the application of booster shots.
